Storm and Hail Damage in the Rio Grande Valley, TX

A wrong date of loss can get your claim denied, so your file carries the storm date for your address. Texas law bars any contractor from covering your deductible.

Hail about one inch across bruises an asphalt shingle, and that happens here from March through May. Your adjuster works from a 10 by 10 foot test square on each slope. We meet them on the roof with dated photos of every hit.

What the job includes02

What a roofing job with us includes

Hail arrives with the spring line storms between March and May. Wind comes back with hurricane season, June through November. One cell can shred Roma and leave Rio Grande City untouched. So your adjuster starts from your address and your date of loss. A wrong date of loss is one of the fastest ways to get a Valley claim denied.

  • Full damage walk with every hit marked in chalk, slope by slope
  • A 10 by 10 foot test square photographed on each side of the house
  • Soft metal check on vents, gutters, garage door and the AC fins, since those dent first
  • Storm date and reported hail size for your address, filed with the photos
  • Written scope in the same line-item format your adjuster already uses
  • David on the roof with the adjuster, not waiting in the driveway
  • Emergency tarp on any slope that is open to the weather
  • Supplement filed with photo evidence when the first scope misses something
Signs you need this work

  • A driveway and patio covered in granules after a spring storm

Questions we get06

Questions homeowners ask us about this work

What is a test square and what is the adjuster counting?

A 10 by 10 foot area chalked off on a slope. The adjuster counts the bruises inside it and multiplies out. Most carriers want a set number of hits per square before they call a slope damaged. One missed square can change the outcome.

My claim was denied. Is that the end of it?

No. A denial can be reviewed, and you can ask for a reinspection with your own documentation in hand. Get the denial reason in writing first. A wrong date of loss and a real lack of damage are different problems.

How long after a storm can I still file?

Your policy sets that deadline, not us and not the contractor knocking on your door. Look at your declarations page for the notice requirements and call your carrier. Waiting also makes it harder to prove the damage came from that storm and not from age.

My neighbor got a full roof and I got nothing. Why?

Hail falls in narrow paths and lands at an angle, so one side of a street can take the hit. Roof age, material and slope direction also change what an adjuster finds. A class 4 shingle two years old bruises far less than a 19 year old three-tab.

Does filing a hail claim raise what I pay?

Weather claims and at-fault claims are not treated the same way. Every carrier has its own rules on rates and renewals. Ask your agent to put the answer for your policy in writing before you file. Keep that email with your claim paperwork.
