David Aceves owns the company and runs every job on it. He is from this part of the Valley and he still lives here. When you call, you reach him, not a call center.
He started in home building, not in repairs. He framed, roofed and finished custom homes from the slab up with Cuates Construction. That is where he learned every stage of a house, and it is how he plans a remodel today.

How does building homes shape the way David plans a remodel?
David came up building custom homes stage by stage: the slab, the framing, the roof and the finish work. He knows how each stage depends on the one before it.
So when he walks your house, he looks past the room you want to change. He sees where the walls carry weight, where the water goes and what the house could become, and he plans the remodel around all of it.
You see it in the plan. The structure gets checked before the finish is chosen, and the new work ties into the old instead of being patched onto it.
Then we walk the punch list with you. You sign off after that, not before.

Why does being local matter after a hail storm?
Every spring, crews arrive in the Valley after a hail event. They knock doors, collect a deposit and sign people fast. Some finish the work and some do not.
By August the trucks are gone. The phone number goes dead and the warranty goes with it. Your insurance money left with the truck.
We were here before the storm. Our base is Rio Grande City, and David lives where he works. If something fails in year two, you know which door to knock on.

Is a remodeling contractor licensed in Texas?
Texas does not issue a state license for general contractors or for roofing. That license does not exist, so no remodeling company in the Valley holds one. Anyone showing you a contractor license number is showing you something else.
Electrical and plumbing are different. Both trades require a Texas state license. When your job needs one, a licensed electrician or plumber does that part.
Ask for three things instead of a license. Ask for a current certificate of general liability insurance. Ask for a written workmanship warranty, and for an address in the Valley you can drive to.

How do you work in English and in Spanish?
Both languages carry the whole job, not only the first call. The walkthrough, the estimate, the change orders and the final review happen in the language you choose.
Nobody hands you off to a translator. You talk to David in Spanish or in English, whichever you prefer. Your written estimate comes in that same language.
This matters most when a decision costs money. You should understand every line of the estimate before you approve it.

Before you call
How many years has David Aceves been building?
He came up building custom homes from the ground up with Cuates Construction before he moved into remodeling. This site does not publish a year count, because that number should come from him and not from marketing copy. Ask him on the first visit and he will answer it.
Do you use subcontractors on a job?
David runs the job and is on site while the crew works. Electrical and plumbing require a Texas state license. When your job needs them, a licensed electrician or plumber handles those parts. You get that name before the work starts, not after.
Is Aceves insured?
Ask any contractor in the Valley for a current certificate of general liability insurance before you sign anything. We provide ours on request, with the carrier and the policy dates on it. Do not accept a verbal answer from anyone, including us.
Which cities do you cover from Rio Grande City?
All four Valley counties, which is about 30 cities: Starr, Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron. Starr County is 30 minutes or less from the base. South Padre Island is about 135 minutes each way. Jobs at the far end of the Valley follow a travel rule we explain before you commit.
