Sometimes, and we check before we quote rather than after. We push on each post and look at the base where the pipe meets the concrete. A post that moves, or that has rusted through at ground level, does not get reused. On most 1950s lines we find some worth keeping and some that have to come out. The estimate says which is which.

Our yard has mature citrus and palms along the line. Does that change the fence?

It changes where the posts go. We do not cut a major root to keep a post on an even spacing. Instead we shift that post and adjust the panel on either side. Once the fence is up, that reads as normal. Palms are the harder case, because the root mass sits wide and shallow. We mark every one of those spots with you on site.

Our lot backs onto the arroyo bank. How close to the water can the fence go?

That depends on the easement, not on the water line. Land near the Arroyo Colorado often carries a drainage easement that belongs to a district rather than to you. We pull your plat and confirm the limit before we set a single post. If the fence has to stop short of where you expected, you hear it during the estimate.
