Will a patio cover attached to my stucco wall cause a leak later?

Not if the opening is done right. Stucco is a skin, so the ledger has to reach the framing behind it. We cut the stucco back and fasten into solid framing. Then we flash and seal the cut so water runs out. We photograph the opening before it closes, so you can see how it was built.

Can you tie a patio cover into a tile roof in McAllen?

Yes, and it is slower than tying into shingle. The tile above the work line comes off first so the flashing can slide under the course that stays, and then the tile goes back down over it. Tile that breaks on the way off is replaced from the same profile wherever the supplier still carries it. A quote that never mentions any of this is planning to caulk the joint, and caulk does not hold on a tile roof.
