Is an ornamental iron fence the same as an aluminum fence?
They look almost identical from the street and behave differently. Steel is heavier and takes an impact without deforming, but it rusts wherever the coating breaks. Aluminum cannot rust at all, which matters within about 20 miles of the water. It also bends where steel would hold.
Does an iron fence rust in Valley weather?
Only where the coating is broken. Galvanizing under powder coat gives two layers between the steel and the air. Rust starts at cut ends, at welds and where a mower throws gravel at the base. Touch those spots up the same year and a steel fence here passes 30 years.
Can an iron fence enclose a pool yard?
Yes, and pool barriers carry their own rules. The common standard is a barrier at least 48 inches tall with gaps under 4 inches. The gate has to self close and latch high. The exact requirement is set by your city, so we confirm it for your address before we quote.
How wide can a driveway gate be before the post has to change?
Past about 12 feet of single leaf, the post is doing more work than a line post can. We move to a 4 inch square post set 36 inches deep. The other answer is a 14 or 16 foot double gate with a drop rod.
Can you match the iron work already on my windows and porch?
Yes, when it is welded on site rather than ordered as a panel. Plenty of homes in Rio Grande City and Roma have window guards in a pattern no supplier stocks. We copy the pattern off what you have and build it to your opening. Coating goes on after the welds are ground.
